Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Autoimmune mechanisms play a central role in the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases, encompassing a complex interplay between genetic susceptibility, environmental triggers, and immune dysregulation. Although technological advances in immunology and molecular medicine over recent decades have greatly enhanced our understanding of these conditions, major gaps remain regarding early diagnosis, disease heterogeneity, and therapeutic response.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and updated overview of autoimmunity in rheumatic diseases, with a focus on pathogenic mechanisms, novel biomarkers, and emerging therapeutic strategies. We welcome original research, systematic reviews, and translational studies addressing key topics such as autoantibody profiles, innate and adaptive immune pathways, epigenetic regulation, microbiome interactions, and environmental exposures.
Additionally, this issue will explore innovative treatment approaches, including biologics, targeted synthetic therapies, and integrative strategies that may modulate immune responses. Particular emphasis will be placed on personalized medicine and the identification of predictive markers for disease progression and treatment outcomes.
By bringing together leading experts in the field, this Special Issue aims to advance current knowledge and foster new perspectives that may translate into improved clinical management of autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://www.discovmed.com/Journalx_dm/authorLogOn.action by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
