Special Issue Information
Dementia-related neurodegenerative disorders are primarily associated with increasing age and changes in several physiological factors. Aside from that, alterations in several neuronal or peripheral networks, including structural changes to brain, altered cellular signaling processes, and changes to proteostasis mechanisms, as well as altered cardiovascular or inflammatory status, also result in the occurrence of neurodegenerative disorders. These disorders are linked to cognitive disturbances, which have profound effect on the patients’ quality of life. Of note, each of the neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body dementia and frontotemporal dementia, has unique pathological mechanisms. Thus, a deeper understanding of the mechanism could aid in the development of therapeutic approaches to treating neurodegenerative disorders.
This special issue welcomes original research and review articles with special focus on the development of novel therapeutic approaches for mitigating neurodegenerative disorders. In addition, we are interested in considering papers about unraveling the underlying mechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders, as well as up-to-date reviews on novel approaches to treating dementia disorders.
